Spring Lift-In 2013

The Spring lift-in is scheduled for the 11th and 12th April this year, commencing at 05.30h on the Thursday
The boat lists information will be posted on the CCSC website, the Z-Class News Letter and at the clubhouse in due course.

Mast Stepping

As all crane costs are escalating we have now negotiated a 2 year contract with SW Crane Hire Ltd to maintain costs at the 2012 level and are aiming again this year to keep the boat lift-in to a maximum of 2 days.

Due to the number of masts to be stepped this year we will have to hire a lighter crane for a half day on the afternoon of the 10th April prior to the first day’s lift. This will incur an additional cost of £300 which will have to be shared by the owners concerned (approx. £30 per boat)

We anticipate mast stepping to commence at midday on the 10th April and all owners concerned need to be in attendance with masts ‘’ready’’ to be stepped. We will only have a short window in which to step all masts.

All owners need to be in attendance on this day and ensure that they have sufficient helpers on hand to assist with their mast stepping.

Dates for your Diary...

The 2013 YCW Weymouth Keelboat Championships will be held over five days with six races (two discards) commencing,

Wednesday 14th August in Portland Harbour at CCSC committee boat 18:30 first start

Thursday 15th August in Weymouth Bay at WSC committee boat 18:30 first start.

Friday 16th August 17:00, Long distance race for keelboats with competitors expected to finish after sunset. One race around the cans for Squibs

Saturday 17th August Weymouth Bay, two races starting no earlier than mid day. Around the inshore cans.
Social Saturday evening at WSC

Sunday 18th August Weymouth Bay. One long race around the outer cans (Two around inshore cans for Squibs)

Prize giving Sunday afternoon at WSC.

The YCW committee has listened to feedback and have moved the event into the school holidays, made it five days, allowed for a long distance race and yet propose to keep the entry fee as low as possible utilising race management teams and resources already in place.

Additionally, having the races in the evening allows competitors and crews the chance to go to work and yet still enjoy a full programme.

By fixing the date early we hope that you can plan your diaries accordingly.

Booking will be online, saving paperwork and time.

Classes will be National Squibs, IRC 1,2,3 Two PY classes and a gentlemans (non spinnaker) class.

The Impala class association have made enquiries about holding their nationals as part of the regatta.

Visiting boats will be very welcome.

I’m excited already!

October Lift-Out - IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Important information for all keelboat owners from Barry and the lift team....

Boat order is not necessarily lift order so owners please ensure that you are available for first lift times.

Please ensure that your cradle is in good working order and can be adjusted easily. Any tools needed to adjust must be readily to hand. Due to the tide availability, any delay in the lift caused by an ill maintained cradle and the boat will be returned to the water and not lifted again.

January Lift-Out anybody?

Dear All,

I would like to do the YCW Autumn and Winter Sunday series, which is often some of the best sailing of the year, and then have the rest of the winter ashore somewhere. That somewhere could be either the Academy or Dean and Readyhoff, but I would much prefer to give my hard earned cash to the Club. So I need to find a few other like minded souls to make it worth while organising a lift out around the New Year. If anyone is interested, please contact me.

Bill Barker, Flair II (bill@bridevalley.com)

Many thanks

Bill

Cherbourg (Booze) Cruise...

Kay and the folks on Draig o'r Mor are organising a little 'cruise in company' to Cherbourg next weekend.

The plan is to leave around 8 pm Friday, arriving Cherbourg at dawn. Run ashore then back either Sat night or Sun. If there is sufficient interest the cruise could incorporate a friendly little race.

Contact Kay at skateboardkay@hotmail.co.uk or 07769 903 604 for more info.

Alderney Race update...

The entry list for tomorrow's Alderney dash has reduced to zero (hardly surprising given the mid channel gale warnings!) so the race is therefore cancelled.

The weather has played total havoc with our passage racing program this year but there is enourmous enthusiasm to squeeze a replacement or two in before the season's done -  if you have any suggestions please let us know.

Royal Dorset Lulworth Race

RYDC  now have a good showing for the Lulworth Races on Sunday. This is a simple straight race to Lulworth, a stop-over for Lunch and a return race to Weymouth.

It’s not too late to enter the race – please email details to james.cash@virgin.net. Line entries will be accepted 10 minutes before the start sequence.

SI's available from www.royal-dorset.com - and the sun will (hopefully) be shining.
